Author of "Mindful Running" (Bloomsbury Publishing, October 2017) and “The Perfect Run” (Bloomsbury Publishing, June 2020), Mackenzie Havey is a Minneapolis-based writer, photographer, and content specialist.
Her editorial work has appeared in Runner’s World, Running Times, TheAtlantic.com, Women’s Running, ESPN.com, Trail Runner, SELF, Triathlete, Triathlete Europe, OutsideOnline, and Active.com among others. Through first-hand experiences and many hours spent listening to the things people are passionate about, she works to relay stories via creative, engaging, and well-researched prose.
Providing coverage across a wide range of platforms, she also works as a pen and lens for hire contributing to content marketing projects for a number of brands and websites in the outdoor, family adventure, and fitness space.
Mackenzie holds a B.A. in English and a M.A. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports and Exercise Psychology, has training in mindfulness meditation, and is a USA Track & Field-certified coach. She has served as an instructor at the University of Minnesota teaching the fundamentals of running and mental training and has completed 14 marathons and an Ironman. When she's not at her desk, she's out with her husband, three young daughters, and dog tackling the trails by foot, bike, and ski.
